Episode 100: How to Simmer Down Your Negative Inner Voice

Release Date:

Sonia C. had a bit of a hiccup at the airport, but she was so tired that her inner barking dog was too subdued to freak out. In this situation, it took Sonia C. 90 minutes to deplane and nearly 2 hours in traffic to finally go home. Instead of getting anxious, frustrated, or disappointed, she just accepted her fate. You might have a habit of doing X whenever Y goes wrong, but is that your choice or is that just your irrational barking dog taking over? Sonica C. decided to consciously choose her reaction this time and what a difference did it make.    This week’s theme is about: Reprogram your barking dog reactions.    Highlights: You don’t have to be a one-size-fits-all reaction to unexpected situations. [5:20] What do you do if you’re too hard on yourself? [9:25]  Push yourself out of your old self and relive a new self. [14:45]  Sonia C. got a ‘closested’ intuitive that was almost ashamed to be getting a reading. [24:45] If you deny a part of yourself, you’re also blocking people off from true connection to the real you. [28:00]  You never really know what someone else is going through. [32:30]  Tool of the week. [32:55] Question of the week. [38:35]   If you’re known to overreact or even get bored in certain situations, try to break the pattern and practice mindfulness during these tough situations. Give other people the space they need to perhaps freak out or take control. It's time to do something different and see what happens to the energy in the room when you do. Sonia T. gets really critical of herself when she isn’t the most structured or organized person out there. She realizes she can either beat herself up or this can be a place for growth.    Creativity is very messy. Sometimes, you simply can’t be your most organized self when rooted in this process. Sonia C. notices that Sonia T. can be too hard on herself during the creative ‘unplanned’ process, but things being unplanned in itself is part of the creative process! You almost can’t have one without the other. Instead of punishing yourself, ask questions on how you can work with yourself. Maybe you just need to set a 15 minute ‘get organized’ timer and then call it a day. Take action on something where it A) doesn’t derail your day and B) helps you move to a more compassionate place.    Tool of the Week: Never assume you know someone. Discover them first.    Continue on Your Journey:   Question of the Week: I keep having a recurring dream.
