S2 Ep31: Now we're touring...

The boys are finally off on their UK tour and already a little dusty from a few nights on the road. Hask has barely slept, Tinds is losing his voice, and Alex is attempting to hold it all together as usual. This episode comes from the stage of the empty Empire Theatre in Liverpool where the boys reflect on the best moments from the opening night in Sheffield with Dylan Hartley. He opened up about his time under Eddie Jones as England captain, as well as all the bans and indiscretions in between. Hask, Tinds and Alex also discuss the Red Roses Grand Slam, and Chris Ashton’s try scoring record.

This week's guest is professional tennis player, Olympic medallist and founder of the brilliant High Impact Athletes organisation, New Zealander, Marcus Daniell. The chat you're about to hear is a very honest one from someone who's learnt so much from the journey he has taken. It's easy to think that being a professional athlete means that, not only do you know everything about preparation and performance, but that you also have an entourage around you to help and guide you. For the huge majority of those that make a living playing sport professionally, there is no full time support group and they are often doing the majority of their work on their own. Being self-sufficient is something we talk a lot about and how you can become more self-reliant and pro active. GOLD DIGGER: The search for Australian rugby

Welcome back for 2022 and we're giving a nod to the pending Six Nations series by travelling north and interviewing rugby royalty in the form of Sir Clive Woodward, the former England and British and Irish Lions player and coach...and of course that little thing that happened in Sydney back in 2003. We tackle the politics of being England head coach, the difficulties of coaching the Lions and we dive into Clive's time when he was living in Manly in the 1980s and playing for the Marlins against powerhouses like Randwick and being told to "take it up"! Did this playing stint in Australia help inform his approach to winning the Rugby World Cup and what is his view on the current state of rugby union in Australia?Matt also brings us up to date on the pending release of the film and what we can expect in 2022. Stormers v Ulster Review: Game Over

Irish Times journalist and honorary Ulsterman, Nathan Johns and I conduct the post-mortem of Ulster's chances of silverware this season.
Despite the initial disappointment, a couple of days have provided perspective. Ulster were tantalisingly close to a home final and the gut-wrenching feeling when they let their 5-point lead slip is made somewhat easier to take when you look at the future potential of this team.
We discuss the heroic effort and the coaching decisions that may have ultimately contributed to our downfall.
By the way, we forgot to give enough credit to the Stormers who, in the end, deserved the win. That hurt to say but it's true.
Enjoy the listen.

Episode 126: Jaiyden Hunt: ”There’s a fair few older boys, so I sense there’s an opportunity in the future”

Check in to this week's Red V Podcast as recently re-signed Dragons prop Jaiyden Hunt drops by to talk to the team. He talks about what the coaching staff want from him, why he remained loyal to the club, his goals for 2022 and what he likes to do outside of footy.

We give a harsh (and at times brutal review) of the shambolic display against the Cowboys. Why are players being rewarded for consistent poor performance? Do the issues run deeper than just coach and selections?

Preview of Souths game, can we bounce back? What do we need to do?

Plus latest news (team list review, McGuire injury), lower grade wrap and fans corner questions. #redv

Our guest this week, is current squad member and prop superstar Sam Mahoney.   Sam has played prop since his early days at Colchester RFC when he joined them at U11.  We get to learn about his journey in rugby and why he took a gap year to wait for the love of his life to join him at University and when he made the transition from Colts rugby to Senior rugby for Clacton.  At University he bonded with a fellow student and became best mates with Tom Baldwin, which you hear quite a bit about their rugby journey, through Uni to London 1 North and then to London Welsh together. Who was the London Welsh member who encouraged Sam to join the club?  Sam loved his first 3 seasons at the club and became a popular player with our supporters as he was the basis for our strong scrum and he also got over the whitewash a fair few times.  A few concussions prevented him getting a run of games in our second season and work and injury hampered his availability in the third

Six Nations Round 2 Preview | Carbery to start! Have Ireland mismanaged the No.10 situation?

Alan Quinlan and Matt Williams join Stuart McAvoy to look ahead to a huge weekend in the Guinness Six Nations! Ireland are in Paris to take on France in what many feel could be a Championship decider already! Big news came from the Ireland camp yesterday when it was announced Joey Carbery will start at 10 in place of the injured Johnny Sexton. The fact that the match will see Carbery make his first start in a Six Nations game makes Matt Williams question whether Ireland have mismanaged their out-half situation in recent years. Also on Saturday we've got Wales hosting Scotland while on Sunday, England are in Rome looking for their first win of the competition. The lads discuss all this and more in the episode. Watch the Men's, Women's and U20s Six Nations Championships live on Virgin Media Television.Subscribe to our page for more!Follow us on Twitter -
