Episode 36 - Pointing to Gratitude

We go through life conflating thankfulness and gratitude and I suspect gratitude is something much deeper, more significant. Using some of the Buddha’s teaching, as well as our own experience, we discover that gratitude emerges and flourishes when we surrender to the understanding that we are not self-arisen beings, but the product of the past and present as well as ancestors and all those who helped us become who we are here and now. While we can’t define gratitude, we can point to it and, when cultivated, use it to create more peace in our world.

A History of Italy » Podcast

Mike Corradi

Special - Lucrezia Borgia

To celebrate the "A History of Italy" podcast joining the "Sentire" media network (sentire.media), we take a look at one of the most maligned women in history, Lucrezia Borgia. By the 20th century, her reputation was turned around a bit and from the poisoning murder and sexual predator, she became the innocent victim of the machiavellian scheming of her father, Rodrigo Borgia, pope Alexander VI and her brother Cesare Borgia, the most famous case study for Machiavelli's "The Prince".Although this may have been true for Lucrezia the young girl, the strong and intelligent young woman who became the beloved duchess of Ferrara was no push over.
