Old Fashioned On Purpose

Jill Winger

Have you felt it? Something is rippling through humanity at this moment. It's a stirring... a longing... a remembering. A sense that we are more capable than we’ve been led to believe. We want to feel alive, not sedated.. but we've lost our way. We've traded a life intertwined with nature for asphalt and artificial lights. We've swapped natural movement for a sedentary existence. We've given up food from the earth in favor of food from the factory. We've sacrificed our traditional skillsets for apps and gadgets. But while our overdose on modernity may have made us sick, there is an antidote. Join best-selling author and mentor, Jill Winger, each week as she digs into a different facet of the old-fashioned on purpose lifestyle.

Learn and Memorize Tarot Cards

QuickLearn Quests

Tarot cards has been a journey of over 20 years for me. I took a two and a half day course to learn how to read tarot and I was hooked. At the time, I wanted to learn how to read tarot because I loved having my cards read and I wanted to demystify it, and also learn how to do it for myself and others. Since this was a new skill, I relied heavily on learning the cards and the positions in the spread. It took many years to be able to put the stories together, and even longer to get out of my head and trust my intuition (which I still struggle with). Tarot has been an exciting journey in my personal life. In my professional life, I am an instructional designer, course writer and digital content creator. Needless to say, it was a matter of time before I took on the personal project of sharing how I learned to read tarot cards, which truly was building on the basics - which is the symbolism of the cards. Taking my experience in adult learning and course writing coupled with my passion for reading cards, I created these three minute podcasts to help card readers learn as I did.  Ok... they aren't EXACTLY 3 minutes.  I'm not THAT good!  But I am around that 2.5 to 3.5 minute mark, to keep the learning targeted and concise.  Please know there is so much more to know, but this should give a beginner some basics. For people that already have a familiarity with the cards, taking in the podcast may be a great way to focus on the lessons. For those that would do better with accompanying visuals, I would recommend searching for the card for viewing on your computer or phone for quick access.  I have used the Rider Waite deck to build this course, as it is the deck that I learned on, and it is still my favorite tarot card deck. Even though I love the woo woo nature of cards, astrology and numerology, it can be confusing when discussing the technical aspects of the cards, and flip flopping with the fluff. This audio course sticks to point so that a person learning can stay in their left brain. I love the fluff, but we only have three minutes to get the basics across.  Happy learning!

School for School Counselors Podcast

School for School Counselors

School counseling is one of the most rewarding professions on the planet, but also one of the most intense and misunderstood. Most school counseling resources continue to focus on ultra-filtered, perfect-world examples of school counseling instead of the raw, real-world realities of the profession we love: that’s why we created this podcast. The School for School Counselors podcast is for school counselors working their hearts out while fearing they’ll never meet the expectation of a “perfect” comprehensive program. It’s for school counselors who are feeling frustrated, discouraged, or misunderstood. And it’s for those of us who just simply LOVE working in and thinking about school counseling because we want to learn, grow and inspire positive change in students. If you’ve been looking for a circle of school counselor colleagues who just GET IT, and if you’re not afraid to be REAL about things like comprehensive school counseling programs, data-driven school counseling, and the joys and real challenges of the modern school counselor’s role on campus, you’ve come to the right place.
