Poetry is a form of literature that uses aesthetic and often rhythmic

Poetry has a long and varied history, evolving differentially across the globe. It dates back at least to prehistoric times with hunting poetry in Africa and to panegyric and elegiac court poetry of the empires of the Nile, Niger, and Volta River valleys. Some of the earliest written poetry in Africa occurs among the Pyramid Texts written during the 25th century BCE. The earliest surviving Western Asian epic poem, the Epic of Gilgamesh, was written in the Sumerian language.

Ep.201 Ornamental permaculture: Revisiting the 12 principles - Daniel Fuller

Most people wouldn't consider a permaculture mindset for a public park or an ornamental garden. But that's a missed opportunity, because it could help individuals, organisations and councils reduce their maintenance budgets while increasing plant health and positive biodiversity outcomes. The 12 principles of permaculture can be applied whether or not you're growing food. They're simply a way to get us back in tune with nature's systems so that we can work with them instead of against them. Why should we row against the stream when we can roll with it instead? This episode doesn't have a guest, it's just me getting up on my soapbox. The 12 principles of permaculture are:Observe and interactCatch and store energyObtain a yieldApply self-regulation and accept feedbackUse and value renewable resources and servicesProduce no wasteDesign from patterns to detailsIntegrate r

Book 101 Review

Daniel Lucas

Awakening in the Northwest Territories by Alastair Henry

If you enjoy engrossing and thought provoking reads, full of humor, adventure and intrigue, then you should get this book. Although the bookspans sixty years, the core of the story takes place in a remote location in Canada’s far north, where Alastair, discontented with the passivity of an early retirement, went to live with a small First Nations band in search of adventure and a deeper meaning to life. He found what he was looking for. Cultural differences and a challenging environment caused a paradigm shift in his spirituality and life philosophy.

The Build the Invisible Documentary: Put yourself on the path to the career you've always wanted.

? + ⏳ + ? + ? = ?
The idea for the 'Build the Invisible' documentary was to translate my book into a more visual narrative. With the expert help of Ashli Moses, the founder of Carcosa Film, we explored the concept of building 'invisible foundations' — a vital, yet often overlooked, metaphor for nurturing personal skills and development as the cornerstone for long-term career success.

The documentary addresses key questions faced by those aspiring to make their mark in their chosen industries. The aim was to provide pragmatic insights into standing out in a competitive environment, effective communication and navigating professional challenges.

Interwoven with the narrative is the 'Build the Invisible Journal,' a practical complement to the book, designed to help readers and viewers translate theory into practice. This t

Cindy Asks, “Is It Too Late To Get Into eCommerce?”

Ryan selected this coaching call from The One Percent to share on the podcast for a very specific reason. Cindy has been in business for 14 years but that whole time she was selling directly to businesses - she is just now getting started in the direct to consumer eCommerce world!   So of course she wonders, "is it too late now to change the whole business model?"  How can she pivot from B2B sales to selling directly on Amazon and Shopify?   After finding Ryan's book, 12 Months To $1 Million, she decided it was time to transition her business that has been making great products that help dogs stay healthy and heartstrong to the front facing world of social media, list building, and connecting more directly with her customers.   In this podcast Ryan coaches her to see that she is sitting on a potential multimillion dollar business if she follows the brand building playbook and her timing could actually be perf

Folk Craft Revival

Carving and Whittling with Brian Carver

#038. -- The ability to shape wood with a knife is one of the most elemental skills to have, and plays at least a minor role in the vast majority of other crafts. Sadly, knife skills in general seem to be in decline. . . Though that's something we encourage around here!Brian, from the Carving is Fun channel on Youtube, helps educate and get folks involved in carving and came on the podcast to chat about carving, whittling, tips, techniques, and suggestions.  I found this interesting because I've never attempted to whittle small 3D objects (what I classically think of when I think of whittling). Hope you learn something from our conversation! Links resources mentioned in this episode can be found over at:folkcraftrevival.com/38

18-Year-Old College Student Interviews Tucker Carlson | Piece of Schmidt Ep. 1

In the very first episode of Piece of Schmidt, I interview Tucker Carlson, the host of Tucker Carlson Tonight.

I didn't want to ask the conventional and frankly uninteresting political questions he's normally asked. So instead, we talked about how online porn damages young men and who is behind it, why anti-white sentiment is so pervasive, what kind of student he was in college, why marrying early is the greatest thing anyone can do, his advice for young people to live happy lives, and more. Enjoy!

Understanding World Religions

Daniel Whyte III

Transcendental Meditation

Our quote for today is from Karl Menninger. He said, “It is doubtless true that religion has been the world's psychiatrist throughout the centuries.” In this our last podcast, we are completing our journey through Garry R. Morgan's book, "Understanding World Religions in 15 Minutes a Day." Our Understanding World Religions topic for today is, "Transcendental Meditation" Transcendental Meditation, popularly known as TM, typically would be considered a New Age religion. For its size and popularity, it will be covered in a brief chapter of its own. The movement and related organizations were founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He was born in northern India in 1917 (some sources say 1911, others 1918) and earned a university degree in physics before renouncing worldly pursuits to become a disciple of Swa-mi Brah-ma-nan-da Sa-ra-swa-ti, better known as Guru Dev. Following Guru Dev’s death in 1953, Maharishi (a Hindi title mean

Use the Reinforcement Principle, Part 2

Romans 12:10-12 says: "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;" Our quote for today is from Jim Rohn. He said: "Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment." Today, in the Get Things Done podcast we are looking at Part 2 of Step 8: "Use the Reinforcement Principle". Q: Some people would argue that it's demeaning to "bribe" yourself to do something that you know you should do anyway. Shouldn't the satisfaction of a job well-done be reward enough? It often is. For many people the knowledge that they will earn self-satisfaction is sufficient motivation to get them to perform a distasteful task at the appropriate time. Such people have learned to utilize the most important reinforcer of all a
