At the age of sixteen, Anton discovered Taekwondo in his native Germany. From there, he began exploring Buddhism only to be told by a visiting monk that if he wanted to truly understand it, he would have to visit Korea. Anton then embarked on a journey of practice and discovery in Korea in 1994, initially intending to stay for just a year. This conversation took place in 2024, thirty years later. Anton has regularly appeared on television during his time here. He has also worked as a producer for the German public broadcaster ARD, offered his expertise as a business consultant, taught at a university, and sought to capture the essence of Korean society as a documentary filmmaker. He has also just written a book in Korean, 한국인들의 이상한 행복, which sheds a critical light on many of the country's social problems. This book was what prompted our discussion today. In this episode of The Veg Project podcast, Helen talks about her experiences in her garden throughout April. She has been nurturing young seedlings and sowing more seeds, using her small greenhouses, dining table, and windowsills to grow plants. Helen is eagerly waiting for the last frost to happen so that she can plant her young plants outside. She has had some failures in seed germination, but she sowed them again and had success. Helen is experimenting with direct sowing parsnips and also germinating them in the house using the kitchen paper method. She has been finding it difficult to find good organic peat-free soil locally. Helen has also put together a metal arch to plant some sweet peas next to it and her winter squashes. Death Stranding

Kojiima Productions’ first release as an independent studio, Death Stranding, was released in 2019 initially as a PlayStation 4 exclusive and later released on PC in 2020. Death Stranding is a post-apocalyptic open-world adventure game where the protagonist is a delivery man. As boring as that sounds, the beautifully designed world and facial captures of the characters bring this game to life and tell a story as beautiful as have been told by any video game.

In today's episode, David is joined by tonebase artist, pedagogue, chamber and solo performer Gabriel Bianco! Gabriel speaks of the importance of chamber music, and his recently released record with Quatuor Éclisses of Spanish arrangements for guitar quartet. Last month, Gabriel performed a livestream concert for tonebase on a romantic guitar: he described his period guitar collection which comprises of instruments from influential luthiers including Lacôte! He explains his concert choice of the Smallman in order to project suitably for live audiences, but how these period instruments may be effective within livestream and recording settings. A dedicated teacher, Bianco speaks about his newly appointed position at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He also explains the genesis of his single left-hand fingered chromatic scale, and how he continues to incorporate this technique throughout his performance repertoire!
