Dang Foods: Vincent and Andrew Kitirattragarn

Vincent Kitirattragarn grew up in a Thai-Chinese-American household, which meant eating congee and lemongrass chicken, while also ordering chicken McNuggets with his younger brothers. He dreamed of opening his own Thai restaurant, but an exhausting stint working at one convinced him that his entrepreneurial path would never be in the restaurant industry. Instead Vincent's Asian-inspired snack food brand, Dang Foods, was born in 2011 when a delicious home-cooking experiment led him to start importing coconut chips from Thailand. Vincent's brother Andrew joined a few years later to help grow the brand through a series of snack product successes—and some tasty but colossal flops. Today, the company sells their brightly-packaged coconut chips, rice crackers, and energy bars in over 10,000 stores across the country.

Welcome to another episode of the Rachel Hollis podcast! I have cedar fever. Don't worry this this episode is not about cedar fever. This episode is about success. It's part of our series on the mindset for success.
If you live around Central Texas or have ever lived around Central Texas, and you are for sure familiar if you're not, let me tell you about this crazy thing that happens once a year in Austin and that I did not know about or believe until I lived here. So there's all kinds of cedar trees in central Texas, where I live out in Hill Country outside of Austin, and every year about this time it utterly destroys me.
But I was like, You know what part of success is? Doing what needs to be done. And this is what needs to be done right now. So I just wanted to explain to you guys why I'm sounding like that.

When he unexpectedly got fired (2 days before Christmas), he had to reimagine what his life would and could look like.Tony took a chance on himself and his real estate business, a chance that has paid off massive dividends to this day. 267: Student Loans Update: Repayment, Refinancing, and Potential Forgiveness w/Robert Farrington

Student loan forgiveness was a hot topic during the 2020 election cycle. With so many outstanding student loan payments, will the government step in to wipe out the debt? While many theorize about this, Robert Farrington takes the opposite angle, urging those who have student loans to prepare for repayment, rather than cancellation. This way, even if your student loans get forgiven, you’re put in a financially advantageous spot.Robert runs The College Investor, a website dedicated to investing and personal finance for millennials. It comes as no surprise that the biggest thing on millennials’ minds are student loans, especially after two years of repayment moratoriums. So, how does someone strapped with student loans prepare for repayment, especially when so many variables are up in the air? Why Companies Should Stop Political Spending Now

A decade ago, the U.S. Supreme Court changed the rules on how businesses could donate to political campaigns. Since then, hundreds of millions of corporate dollars have been spent on local, state, and federal elections, often without transparency. Many CEOs and boards feel this is the only way they can curry favor with policymakers. Dorothy Lund, an associate professor of law at the University of Southern California, and Leo Strine Jr., counsel at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen, and Katz and a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Delaware, say this isn't just bad for democracy. It's bad for business because it distracts companies from innovation and growth and risks serious backlash from consumers, employees, and shareholders. They suggest ways to dial back corporate political spending and improve the economy for all. They are the authors of the HBR article "Corporate Political Spending is Bad Business: How to Minimize t

But it’s also a non-negotiable in entrepreneurship. So after 13 years of running my own online business, I’m sharing how I’ve l

You might find yourself digging out of debt every year when January rolls around. Holiday spending has a habit of sneaking up on most folks and you might be dealing with that financial hangover right now. Listen as we tackle concepts like lifestyle inflation, stoicism, accountability, and other practices that will allow us to kick debt to the curb for good.

271: Are You Using Good Form in Your Business?

Did you know that your business and exercising have a lot in common?   After all the holiday festivities, maybe you’ve stepped up your workout regimen.   And if so, you know that one concept that is extremely vital in exercise is FORM.  In fact, it is way more important than the intensity, frequency, or weight that you can lift. However, what’s fascinating is that the same thing applies to our businesses.  We start off the year by taking massive action.  We do more, more, and more… more presentations, more social media postings, and talk to more people. But here’s the problem…  We are so focused in getting a number (quantity) that we sacrifice form (quality), which fundamentally leads to failure.    Know this -- you'll never see sustainable success and freedom by just focusing on quantity. In this episode, I discuss why you should focus on quality over quantity and why having good FORM is key to business success.

How We Survive

How We Change

Technology will help us avoid the worst outcomes of the climate crisis, and it’ll help us adapt to a warming planet. But technology alone can’t save us. Humans need to make profound changes. We need to change our behavior, our consumption, our policies and our mindsets.
In the final episode of the season, we talk to a climate psychologist about how our minds react to change and hear from a politician relying on Fergie and Megan Thee Stallion to get Americans excited about energy policy. We also visit an encampment in the desert where people are already adapting to a changing climate, living off-grid and generating their own renewable energy.

313. When You Can’t Afford Ads, Do This

Anyone who’s run any sort of ads in the last couple of years (or just pays attention to marketing industry news) will know that Facebook recently went through a huge iOS change and ads no longer perform the way they used to. So what other options are there for marketing, either without Facebook or on a budget?
Your social media strategy can practically become a form of advertising on its own, not to mention leveraging your own personal network and, of course, taking advantage of the Shop 1 in 5™ Pledge.
But our favorite alternative to running ads is: collaborating. Collaborations can be paid, but the best ones take the form of a mutual exchange where you and someone else both give each other something and get something back of value in return. Maybe you’re an online-only business who can collaborate with a brick and mortar shop by running a pop-up in their shop for a day. Or maybe you want to team up with another business to

On Brand with Donny Deutsch

Kast Media | Donny Deutsch

Everything is a brand. In today’s world companies, public figures, countries, institutions, and movements are brands with their own unique values, marketing, and influence. Former CEO and Chairman of Deutsch Inc., innovative political analyst and veteran TV personality, Donny Deutsch, mastered the power of branding when he built the multibillion dollar ad agency. Now, in a hyper-saturated, over-marketed world, our media landscape too often presents one-dimensional figures who are globally seen, and yet not truly known. Where the notion “perception is reality” feels truer each day, join Donny as he peels back the layers of the images we see, to understand the depths of the people who are changing our world. You won’t want to miss Donny’s candid conversations with global experts and the biggest names across entertainment, business, media, politics and more to better understand the “brands” of the moment and examine where politics, current events, and pop culture converge.

They talk about how fiat partially solved the age-old problem of gold’s lack of saleability across space, and how this eventually led to gold’s capture by governments and its ultimate demonetization. They explain how the fiat monetary system we live under today was created, and how it is controlled by the US and US-controlled institutions such as the IMF: to the detriment of the rest of the world. They talk through the disastrous consequences of the fiat system including its destruction of wealth through inflation, its disruption of economic calculation, the unprecedented power it has provided to governments, and its propensity to lead to
