Is The Way You Speak About Food Impacting Your Relationship With Food? The Power of Nutrition Education and Language. Interview with Clinical Counsellor Kendra Pomfret

Release Date:

How often do you get curious about why you think and speak about food the way you do? Why do you name some foods as "bad" or "good"?
Today on the show I am chatting with clinical counselor and former 1500m Canadian national team athlete, Kendra Pomfret.
Today we are chatting about the role counseling provides women and some of the common misconceptions surrounding nutrition and therapy that continue to take place. Kendra loves to bring more voice to these topics in efforts to normalize the optimization of therapeutic services not only as a support for "treating" mental health challenges but also as a tool for maintaining and sustaining holistic well-being.
Furthermore, Kendra has a passion for educating folks like coaches and administration on topics such as the female athlete triad (RED-S), eating disorders, and the power of language. The way language is used to describe food and fueling is something she has personally found to be interesting in her own experience (both personally and professionally) and research. While it seems small, Kendra believes language can have a big impact on the female’s perception of fueling.
Today is definitely going to empower your journey and leave you with some good questions to ask yourself about your relationship with food.
To connect with Kendra check out her counseling services Strides Counseling or connect with her on Instagram @stridescounselling.
Cheers, and happy eating!
