82. Coaching at Its Core with Julie Reisler

Release Date:

After being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, Julie Reisler discusses her wake-up call from her body alerting her to stop consuming sugar. She has 19 years experience in recovering from sugar addiction.  Molly and Julie relate their journeys of leaving sugar behind and how it can be easy to fall prey to the mind games associated with lifestyle changes. It can be easy to succumb to the “diet culture” where if you mess up once then you might as well throw away the progress made and just “eat the whole box of mac and cheese”. Julie explores how she gave herself compassion and how she was able to embrace her progressive recovery.  Imagine training for a new job in which you are surrounded by the one thing you are abstinent from: sugar. This was reality for Julie! She delves into her career beginning with working in a bakery. She claims her connection to God increased because it was all she had to rely on. This is what eventually would lead to the beginning of her coaching career in working with clients who want to change their life. She considers her work a sacred union with the people she works with.  Julie breaks down what to look for in a coach. She believes that anyone you coach is an expert in themselves. It’s not the job of a coach to be the expert or give advice. The core to it is being non-judgemental, holding space where all emotions are welcome, making sure who you are coaching has what they need, deep listening, knowing how to reflect, and powerful questioning.
