Couch Talks: NEDA Week - Orthorexia

Release Date:

Couch Talks is the bonus episode of You Need Therapy that comes out every Wednesday where Kat answers questions that listeners send to kathryn@youneedtherapypodcast.com.

This week, however, Kat is taking time to celebrate National Eating Disorder Awareness (NEDA) Week by talking about a form of disordered eating that gets overlooked very easily. Orthorexia is a type of disordered eating where someone becomes obsessed with the health of foods. It is not yet recognized in the DSM (diagnostic statistical manual for mental health disorders) but regardless this type of obsession with food/health can lead to an official diagnosis of an eating disorder a couple of different ways.
