There’s nothing wrong with having attachment to a certain identity. After all, our identities DO give context, colour, and focus to our reality - BUT they can also box, bind, limit and separate us from each other and from our true being. 
At your core, you are pure life force and a multi-dimensional being that no identity could ever truly match, describe, or contain. 
The more you give yourself permission to show up in the way that feels TRUE in each moment (even if it defies an old identity) the more free, happy, and alive you will be!
