Tribune Editorial Board on Sanctity of the Male Body

Release Date:

The Chicago Tribune's editorial board has never been a bastion of progressive ideas centered on uplifting Chicago's under-served communities.  Instead the editorial board has been a home for criticism of non-strongman candidates that they believe cannot control an incredibly corrupt city government not realizing the entire time the strong-man leaders backed by the editorial board are the main drivers of corruption within city government.

Today we discuss a horrific editorial recently published by the editorial board trying to spread blame for the vaccine issues with the Fraternal Order of Police's membership. While Mayor Lightfoot has proven to manage a highly incompetent administration there is absolutely no reason to lay blame at her feet for cops not getting vaccinated. The editorial board seems to think that somehow the Mayor played a role in hundreds of officers within the Chicago Police Department being sooo filled with hate of government (which they are a member of) that they would rather put their lives, the lives of their families, and the lives of their neighbors at risk just to pick a fight with the Mayor. Their mantra of "the government cannot tell us what to do" falls on deaf ears when one realizes that is exactly why these same cops do everyday to the residents of Chicago. The hypocrisy radar for the FOP must be switched off.

The most interesting part of the arguments they put forth is that the officers should have say over their bodies. A funny argument coming from the right especially now as the nation combats the most significant attack on Roe v. Wade in our lifetimes. It is pretty clear the right only cares about the sanctity of one's body when those people are male. The editorial board must also have their hypocrisy radar turned off.
