“I am Miles from India because I didn’t see what I am when I started running. I want to help and inspire other people. I want to help people who want to get into running who don’t feel as if they ‘look like a runner.’ There is not one look for a runner. Me showing up…is my way of illustrating that.” India Cook is an Atlanta-based runner, podcast host, YouTube vlogger, and RRCA certified run coach. She began her running journey in 2008, quickly noticing the lack of representation for women of color and the inaccessibility of running lingo, instruction, and coaching. She now runs the Miles from India vlog to educate, inspire, and motivate runners of all backgrounds and co-hosts the Run Duo Podcast alongside Tommy Mitchell. India has recently dabbled in new adventures, including race announcing, drawing on her experiences running every distance from 5k to marathon. In this conversation, we deep dive into our experiences as women of color creatives, talk about the ins and outs of “vlogging” on YouTube, and India gives some motivating tips to new runners.
