Episode 101 - Freediving Champion, & ocean ambassador, Alexey Molchanov

Alexey Molchanov is a (“the”...even) champion freediver.He is a 34-time world champion, world record holder, and freediving promoter. In 2023 he set an absolute record in competitive freediving, diving to a seemingly unfathomable depth of 136 meters!In 2020, he earned a Guinness World Record for longest recorded dive under ice of 181 metres!In March 2021, Molchanov dived 80 meters (straight down this time!)  beneath the one-metre-thick icy surface and back up on a single breath. In the process, he broke another world record: the deepest free dive under ice with fins. He also became an ambassador of the Lake Baikal Foundation  In the year 2023, he set 7 world records.Alexey competes all over the world & is actively involved in environmental issues and water purification. He is often called an “ocean ambassador”, due to his guardianship of the oceans around the world.
