Genesis: Prophecy and Dreams - Genesis 28

Rebekah convinces Isaac to send Jacob away after Jacob took the birthright blessing and Esau reveals his desire to kill Jacob. As Jacob is on the way to Laban’s house, his mother’s brother, YeHoVaH appears to Jacob in a dream and says to Jacob,             “I am YeHoVah Elohim of Abraham thy father, and the Elohim of Isaac: the land whereon                thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.”   YeHoVaH reiterates the promises made to Abraham and Isaac that culminate in all the families of the earth being blessed. Jacob called the name of the place Beth-el (House of Elohim).  Jacob recognized He was conversing with YeHoVaH and began to strike an agreement with YeHoVaH in the form of a vow.
