Episode 4:   Michelle Mortimer, BSN, RN, HN-BC HighlightsSelf-care means making sure that I have enough, that I am full enough on my own, that I'm eating healthy foods, that I'm managing my stress, that I'm noticing when I'm really stressed out, and like, taking a step back, and that I'm taking care of my physical being and also relationships; it's all part of it, you know, we look at the whole being.  ~Michelle MortimerCreating Nurse Coaching magic.  Nurse Coaching is magical.  There's magic in that pause, in that space-the magic allows that person you're with to connect with their true self and be it and that's when the magic happens.Nurses bring their scientific background, all of their training, assessment skills, critical thinking and more to the table.  This is why Nurses are highly effective health coaches.Nurse Coaches are innovative entrepreneurs and running their own businesses in our communities.When one listens with deep awareness, it helps bring out things people don't realize they were saying or thinking.  This listening helps people identify their own goals, which makes them much more successful.Hearing without judgment.   The more expression people are able to do, along with acknowledgement and validation, and then creating smart goals, starting small, and having small successes and then building upon them. It really works!  That whole process works.Nurse Coaches help people process big changes (like diabetes).  Instead of just going home with a paper printout that tells you all these things, you're going to work with a Nurse Health Coach and they're going to help you process that and really work through it.
