Anthony Coscia

Release Date:

This week on Comes A Time the creator of the mini Wall of Sound, Anthony Coscia, joins the guys to discuss his origin story of how he hopped on “the bus,” his career of building guitars and speaker cabinets, and how the Grateful Dead approached the fine details of sound. Anthony gives the guys a fascinating in-depth rundown on how the Wall of Sound worked, and provides unique and unknown insights on how the Dead pulled off touring with the biggest PA system ever.

Anthony Coscia is a luthier and amp builder who specializes in equipment that was used by the Grateful Dead. Anthony recently completed the ultimate labor of love: a working, 1/6 model replica of the Grateful Dead’s Wall of Sound. All told, Coscia spent over 200 hours building cabinets, individually soldering and installing 390 tiny speakers (some meant for cell phones), and even creating a lighting rig for his miniature take on the Dead’s 1974 stage setup.
