He trained in Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Texas San Antonio. While in private practice in Phoenix, he received an MBA from Arizona State University and then went on to serve as the division chief of adult plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He returned to Arizona to become chair of plastic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale in 2022. Dr. Reece has a broad, mostly reconstructive, practice in sarcoma reconstruction, breast reconstruction and hand surgery, and is a pioneer of spinoplastic reconstruction, where he works with spine surgeons to improve outcomes of spinal fusions.
