Pawareness Podcast # 44 | How Can Digital Tech Save Animals from Death Row? | Pet Pardon App

In this episode, we welcome Sheryl Joyce, Founder and CEO of the Pet Pardon app. As the first platform of its kind, Pet Pardon aims to reduce animal euthanasia by spreading awareness about this issue and establishing a network and support for animal advocates, welfare and organizations, and pet owners.
Sheryl shares how she got the idea for the app when she discovered accounts of rescues and shelters on Instagram. When she learned about the rates of euthanized animals, even healthy ones that end up in shelters, she found the need to address it by using modern technology and utilizing current trends that educate and inform. By documenting the situation of animals in these shelters and releasing photos and videos on social media platforms such as Instagram, animal advocates can spread awareness about the animals’ situation and find support from similar communities. Pledging can also help support this advocacy.
Today, Pet Pardon app combines these features for a more convenient experience and to become a sustainable resource to help operate, fund, and support smaller rescues. After launching the first version of the app in March 2020, Pet Pardon now has hundreds of pledges from animal advocates and organizations. Currently, the app maintains its mission which is to support campaigns and advocacies that help reduce and entirely eradicate animal euthanasia in many countries around the world.
