Send us a Text Message.In Episode 6 of The Story of My Pet Podcast I welcome my guest, Carolyn Smith-Keune. Carolyn, a Doctor of Marine and Molecular Biology, has worked as a marine biologist on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia for almost a decade. Later in her career she switched to working in Aquaculture Genetics research when she started her family, where she manages a genetics research lab (predominately animal and plant genetics). Currently on leave of absence to heal from past trauma and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), Carolyn soon turned to the family dog Gigi for support. Having always been a dog, fish and coral person, she has been strongly bonded to the animals in her life. Gigi, a red poodle, utilized her canine instinct to realize the support and therapy she could provide Carolyn. Now never far from her side, Gigi will become an officially trained service dog in the coming months.The organization we discuss in this episode, which Carolyn and her family have rescued a dog through.
