Women During The Viking Age w/ Jóhanna Katrín Friðriksdóttir

A conversation about women during The Viking Age with Jóhanna Katrín Friðriksdóttir. Jóhanna is a specialist in Norse literature, myth, and manuscripts. She is a lecturer at Yale University and is currently writing a book about Viking women, which will be coming out in 2019. The book will be titled Valkyrie, and in today's episode, Jóhanna shares some of the wonderful things that she has learned while researching her book. We talk all about Viking women, touching on everything from Valkyries, Shieldmaidens, and the Sagas, to longboat sails, female court poets, and human sacrifice.
