The Tampa Bay Rays have signed RHP Naoyuki Uwasawa to a minor league deal that could be worth up to $3.5M million. In his nine-year career with the NPB's Ham Fighters, he posted a 3.19 ERA in 1,118 1/3 innings. In the ’23 season: 2.96 ERA, 1.14WHIP, 170 IP. 6.6K/9. While talking to reporters last October, Uwasawa said, “Teams need pitchers that can eat up innings. I can contribute by going many innings without getting an injury.” He turned down major-league contract offers from multiple teamsstating that he liked the reputation the Rays had with pitching.
