The sightings took place on two consecutive Saturdays at what is now the Ronald Reagan National Airport and involved multiple radar confirmation, reports from pilots, both military and civilian, and attempted intercepts by fighters. Although dismissed, officially, as nothing more than a temperature inversion, those involved, including the radar operators, airline and fighter pilots, dispute those conclusions.
