The Supreme Court will hear a case about whether a city in Oregon can ban unhoused people from camping on public property without violating the 8th Amendment’s cruel and usual punishment clause. Abbie VanSickle, who covers the Supreme Court at the New York Times, joins Preet to discuss the merits of the case and how a decision could impact public policy on homelessness.
