From Dreamer to Lifesaver: Paola Domínguez-López is all about changing lives

In this episode of "Desk Wench Confessions," hosted by Caitlin Palmer, we have the pleasure of introducing Paola Domínguez-López, a dedicated veterinary technician and esteemed member of the American Heartworm Society's board of directors. Paola's unwavering love for animals has been a lifelong calling. As a child, her greatest aspiration was to provide care for animals in distress, especially those without a place to call home.
Paola's parents nurtured her passion for animals by involving her in agriculture programs like 4-H. Over time, she realized that her true calling lay in the field of veterinary medicine. Consequently, she enrolled in the Veterinary Nursing Program at St. Petersburg College.
During her journey towards becoming a veterinary nurse, Paola generously dedicated her time to volunteering at local animal shelters. These experiences eventually led her to secure a position at a nearby animal hospital, where she worked diligently and evolved into a skilled veterinary technician.
Today, Paola is living her dream at the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital, where she expertly combines her nursing expertise with her heartfelt commitment to shelter animals. She currently serves in the Veterinary Community Outreach Program within the shelter medicine department, allowing her to extend her compassionate care to shelter animals while pursuing her beloved career.
