In this episode, I sit down with Eric Chan, Wildlife biologist specializing in habitat conservation and endangered species for California DFW, and talked about his love/obsession for Southern California Waterfowl and Turkey Hunting. Southern California may not be a paradise to pursuit either of these animals, but that doesn't seem to stop Eric at all from making the most of it. f
Duck hunting down here since childhood, Eric some great stories of duck hunting down here & how things have changed down here through his years of hunting... We talk some on strategy, tips, calling, and some secrets for how pursue mallards in our local refuge and why mallards really are different than other ducks we hunt, especially in Southern California.
Then we move into talking about Turkey Hunting, as many waterfowl hunters also pursue Turkeys, Eric is one of them. Except here in southern California it just may be a bit harder than most places... All the way from the origins of where the Rio Grande Turkeys were reintroduced to California to where we are now in Southern California with Turkeys. Eric shares some stories of joy and struggle, passion and finally how his love for Turkeys brought him to a very special place this last January.
