Depending on the state, transition planning becomes a part of the IEP by the age of 14 or 16. Some school districts take the transition planning process and knock it out of the ballpark. Some school districts barely meet minimum requirements. Regardless of your situation, the more you know, the better you can prepare and advocate for a successful transition into adulthood.
