Knowledge and Enlightenment: Shiva is considered omniscient, hence he is also worshiped for knowledge, enlightenment and attainment of salvation:
Freedom from sins: Devotees believe that Shiva is merciful and can forgive sins, hence he is also worshiped to get freedom from sins:
