Episode 27 | Reid Detmers No-Hitter, Reds Blow-No, & Christian Yelich Is Back

This week on The Diamond Duo Podcast, Tom and Tony offer their congratulations to two exciting players on the Angels on some impressive milestones! First is former first rounder, Reid Detmers who became the youngest player in franchise history to toss a no-hitter, doing so in his 11h career start! Second is Shohei Ohtani (ever heard of him?) who clobbered his 100th career home run, becoming only the third Japanese-born player (Hideki Matsui & Ichiro Suzuki) to to reach that many! Along with Anthony Rendon hitting a homer left-handed and Mike Trout being Mike Trout, it's a good week to be an Angels fan! These feats got the team featured as one of the hottest in baseball in Around The Horn alongside the Astros, Phillies, and Padres! After recognizing some of the weakest teams of last week (the Blue Jays, Dodgers, and Marlins), the two spend a bit more time picking apart (surprise surprise) the Reds for truly breaking new ground when it comes to ways to lose a baseball game. The duo cover the recent signing of Robinson Cano, the resurgence of Christian Yelich, and a smörgåsbord of other events that may have happened in the middle of the recording!
