Release Date:

In this episode of the Artist Business Plan we sit down with Christina Kwan, to discuss Asian American identity and how the perceptions of identity create struggle. Learn about the way she handles crafting her murals and how she was impacted by motherhood when you tune into this lovely episode.Guest: Christina Kwan is an Atlanta-based artist known for her abstract and floral works on paper as well as large scale murals. She was born and raised in Florida and moved to Atlanta after graduating from University of Florida with a BFA in Drawing. A decade and many different career paths later, the work she creates now is an ongoing exploration of her Asian-American identity and the internal struggle of feeling incomplete or existing in-between, having to reserve space for a variety of imposed cultural influences. Calligraphic brush strokes obliquely refer to her East Asian heritage, acting as a yearning for permanence and a search for ancestral ties. Christina has painted murals for a diverse array of clients in a variety of spaces, from private client's stairwells to up and coming restaurants and corporate tech offices.https://christinakwanart.com/For more information on applying to Superfine Art Fair as well as recordings of this and all of our past podcasts, just visit www.superfine.world IG: @superfineartfairIG: @christina.kwan.artIf you want to submit a listener question you can email it to joshua@superfine.world for a chance of it being answered by Alex, James, and our guest!Hosted and Executive Produced by James Miille and Alexander MitowExecutive Producer/Producer : Joshua GuicheritWritten by: Joshua Guicherit, Alexander Mitow, and James MiilleAudio Edited by: Esteban del Sol
