Young and the Restless: Heather’s Death Gets Insanely Bad Twist on Y&R – An Insult to Fans #yr

The Young and the Restless viewers were left baffled by the highly improbable twist regarding the death of Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). The storyline, written by head writer Josh Griffith, has Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), under the influence of an imaginary friend, involved in a tussle with Heather that results in a fatal head injury. Sharon then meticulously covers up the crime, disposing of the body by dumping it into a river. 
Y&R fans see Heather's cause of death is declared as drowning, a claim that viewers have found highly unbelievable. Despite some suspension of disbelief expected in soap operas, this twist has been criticized as beyond reasonable. Fans are expected to accept miraculous survivals, secret twins, and returns from the dead, but the disregard for basic forensics in this storyline has received backlash. 
Young and the Restless fans note the lack of physical evidence of drowning, the absence of Heather's car near the river, and other glaring inconsistencies and have been called out as insulting to the intelligence of the viewers on the CBS soap opera.
