Silver Linings: The Story of Frank Montague

Release Date:

Vaccinations are on every one's mind these days, but back in the 1940s and 50s polio was the feared virus. Historian Lisa Foster has written an interesting article for Hattiesburg's Signature magazine that chronicles the life of Hattiesburg native Frank Montague. Frank contracted polio as a young man and was paralyzed from the waist down. He walked with crutches but became a very successful attorney. And....come to find out...he was invaluable in the development of the polio vaccine, primarily by fundraising through the March of Dimes. In this episode, Claudia and her cousin Doug, son of Frank, chat about what they "came to find out" about this remarkable man via this article and also discuss the deep love the Montague clan shares.
