99. JC Chasez Part 7: Schizophrenic

Release Date:

In 2004, after taking off from *NSYNC megastardom and spending over a year writing, JC released his one and only solo album: Schizophrenic. Ignore the name, let's focus on the content: a gripping, honest, diverse mixture of whatever musical style JC wanted to try that day, in the studio with his buddies. Rather than take advice from his label, Jive Records, JC went in his own direction. This resulted in one of the unique and, in my opinion, one of the best albums of the time. Not everyone seemed to think so, though, the album received mixed reviews and did not perform well on the charts. It could have done a lot better, though, if not for an unfortunate combination of events that I'm here to break down for you. This is actually just part 1 of the story of this album -- next week, I will welcome Christine from Chasez Daily to deep dive into each individual track off Schizophrenic, so stay tuned!
