29. Album & Era Review -- In This Skin by Jessica Simpson (Part 1)
IT IS TIME. Here we go... part one of Lia's retrospective on Jessica Simpson's landmark album IN THIS SKIN and the era that surrounded it. In 2003, we truly got to know the true authentic Jessica. Between her iconic show Newlyweds and the introspective lyrics on the album, Jessica was finally seen for who she really is as opposed to the manufactured pop product her record label had forced her to be in the past. Using the journals she kept most of her life as a blueprint, she wrote most of the songs on the record that explores themes such as true love, body image, marriage, her relationship with her father, her career and more. In This Skin went on to be her highest selling album at five million copies worldwide; a testament to the idea that when you be yourself, you reach the highest heights and when you try to conform into someone else's standard, you will not reach your true potential. Jessica has inspired me to embrace my true self, good or bad days, ugly or pretty, success or failure. If no one has told you yet today, you are beautiful how you were made... in this skin. Love you all!!
