Joyce adopted six racing greyhounds over the past twenty years and danced with several of them. Miller lives in the Church Hill section of Richmond, Virginia with her husband and her latest retired racing greyhound. Before she started writing, Miller worked for over 30 years as a mechanical designer at a nuclear physics laboratory.
