Consider interesting shapes like a parterre Or vegetables can be planted in between shrubs and perennials Use structures like obelisks or arbours to make use of vertical space while creating visual design features in the front or back. Fences can also be used by using chains for the plants to grow up or wall pockets to create a green wall on the fence, especially with herbs or lettuce.
