"Everyone at work dislikes me because of something I said yesterday. We were talking about Mother's Day plans when I said I have no plans to get my wife a Mother's Day gift. The whole office went off on me. They said I should because she's the mother of our children. I told them that I will get my mother a gift, but not my wife because she's my wife and not my mother. The kids will get her a gift, but I won't. I had no idea how strongly everyone felt about this. Some co-workers came up afterwards and privately said they agree with me, but didn't want to get called out during the argument. Am I wrong for not getting my wife a Mother's Day gift? What's the protocol on this?"
