Maria S. Gomez is an award-winning indigenous filmmaker; Born and raised in New York, New York. She started her first internship at the Educational Video Center at 17 years old, and never put a camera down ever since. Working sometimes at the El Barrio Firehouse Community Center as a Peer trainer and Paid Producer, Maria went on to further her education at The Los Angeles Film School; Where she took home "Outstanding Creativity" for her award-winning short horror film "Pushing Up Orchids" 2021, and Best Horror at "The Rome International Movie Awards". Maria S. Gomez was also just celebrated as a woman of color female filmmaker at "The Peoples Film Festival" winning Best Documentary for her short "Crimes Against Humanity" 2022.
