Join host Michele Forto as she discusses How You May Accidentally Be Encouraging Bad Behavior with Reinforcement on Dog Works Radio.  So, you have been through a dog training course and for the most part everything is going pretty well but you notice every time someone comes to the door your dog barks and you yell at her or worse, when you answer the door your dog jumps on grandma, and she pets her on the head. Maybe, for example, many dogs automatically sit when they approach someone or when a treat is held out to them. But dogs aren’t sitting because “they want to,” rather they are likely sitting because it is a behavior that has been consistently reinforced, and as a result dogs offer it as a default behavior.
