B’Lou Crabbe and Shadow “released” from Hilton Head Island resort

DVC recently announced that popular character B’Lou Crabbe and his dog Shadow were released from their contract at Hilton Head Island. These two had been entertaining guests at the resort for 21 years and were summarily dismissed by Disney.

DVC Publishes Our 2022 Dues

On November 9th, DVC released the regular dues for the various resorts. On their DVC Member account, every owner will have a link to the details for their resorts, but we thought we would share some info.

For non-WDW resorts, Aulani had a 3.7% increase to $8.67 for the unsubsidized dues, which is pretty standard. VGC was higher than most at 6.9%, as increases occurred across the board. Hilton Head Island only saw a 0.9% increase, while VB saw a 6.2% increase to $11.94, the highest of any resort by almost $2.

On average - the dues for WDW resorts only rose by 2.3%. We believe there are two main reasons for this: the lowered tax assessments and the decreased transportation fees for many resorts, likely due to the removal of Magical Express.

Of note: Old Key West saw the most significant change at 5.3% $8.81 per point, mainly because the reserve funds have dwindled and needed to be increased. OKW is now the most expensive of the DVC resorts in Walt Disney World and the third most expensive dues overall.

The Polynesian also saw a 4.6% increase to $7.39 per point and 33 cents increase, surging it out of the bottom three. We noticed an INCREASE in transportation costs versus other resorts and administration and front desk costs rising by 25% for unknown reasons.

The happiest members will be at Copper Creek and Riviera - where dues remained essentially flat, as well as Boulder Ridge with a mere 0.5% increase.
