Frank Vana Jr. is one of the most dominant amateur golfers in Massachusetts history. For starters, Vana qualified for the Round of 32 in 24 straight Massachusetts Amateur championships. Over the course of 9 years, Vana reached the MassAm final match 6 times. On top of that, he has won the Mass Mid-Am 10 times. Vana has also won the Richard D. Haskell Mass Golf Player of the year nine times, including seven straight awards from 2001-2007. In 2004 Vana qualified for the PGA Tour’s Dutche Bank Open held at TPC Boston. Finally, Vana was named MGA male player of the decade in for the 1990s and the 2000s. Before turning to golf, Vana was an exceptional hockey and football player, and he earned a spot in Assumption College’s Hall of Fame. This laundry list of accomplishments also earned Vana a spot in the Mass Golf Hall of Fame, but he’s not done yet. He has won numerous senior events and four straight senior player of the year titles.
