In 2008, at the age of 35, with a husband and 4 kids all under the age of 7, Aurora Colello was diagnosed with a progressive and incurable disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS). After going blind in her right eye, she was told she would never get her vision back and that her MRI showed 10 lesions all over her brain. Because of where her lesions were located, she was also told that she would be in a wheelchair within 5 years and on medications her whole life. But she didn’t want to go on the traditional path. She decided to fight against the disease. After the first year of her lifestyle changes, her vision came back better than before, after being blind for over a month and she became physically active for the first time. Now she has been racing triathlons for 10 years, has been a sponsored triathlete and has raced over 51 triathlons including Half Ironman distances. Her story has been featured in Shape Magazine, Latina Magazine, Fox News, ABC LA and various TV Shows. She is a graduate of the Institute for Functional Medicine Coaching program, a coach, writer and speaker, and is passionate about sharing her story to give others inspiration and hope and teach them how the body can heal through diet and lifestyle changes.
