#62: Stories from the Barkley Fall Classic

The Barkley Fall Classic is one of the hardest 50k's in the country and it is designed to give the runner a taste of what the Barkley Marathons is all about. This year Melody Diehl, Scott Hoover, and Cole Bataille were among the Floridians who showed up to Frozen Head State Park! 
Melody has done races like the Tahoe 200, Gate2Gate, and the Sand Spur and she crossed the finish line at the Barkley Fall Classic at 12:23:57! Like Melody, this was Scott Hoover's first time at the Barkley Fall Classic! 
He completed the course, however, DNF'd with missing the cut-off by the time he made it to the finish line. He's done races like the Sand Spur, the Trident, the Skunk Ape Night Run, Skunk Ape's Revenge, and Quest for the Crest. 
Cole crossed the finish line with a time of 13:02:50 for his fourth finish at the Barkley Fall Classic! He's previously run the BFC in 2020, 2019, and 2017. He's won the 50k at the Sand Spur in 2018 and 2019 and recently won the Trident - Ridge to Nowhere this year back in July. He also won the 2019 Dunes 100 and still has the course record with a time of 21:24:41!
