On this week’s Cut to the Race, Oli, Abby and James review Round 17 of the 2023 season, the Japanese Grand Prix.
With very early sessions for UK viewers, the panel talk through the key takeaways from free practice, which saw a red flag brought out as the Alpine of Pierre Gasly ended up in the barrier.
The trio also discuss Qualifying where Max Verstappen was back on form following Singapore and the McLarens were looking to be very strong. They also speak about Logan Sargeant and his recent run of form.
The panel then dissect the Grand Prix, which saw mixed performances throughout the field. Max Verstappen took the win, but his teammate, Sergio Perez, had a very unfortunate race, which the panel debate.
They also talk about McLaren’s first double podium as well as Mercedes’ different strategies for their drivers following the Safety Car after the opening lap chaos.
