Growing In Confidence With Child-Directed Learning | Jami Newman

Release Date:

Jami Newman is a native from central Florida and a long-time homeschool parent. Her and her husband have raised three children outside of the traditional school setting for the last 12 years and plan to graduate all of them from home. Jami’s children have been homeschooled all their lives.   Jami’s two sons both play travel baseball, and her daughter is a successful, small-business owner, dual enrollment student, and equestrian. Having begun as a more "traditional" homeschooler, Jami has grown to become more child directed as her kids have grown into their teens. During the covid year, her family took a plunge and purchased a piece of land in Florida outside of the city. They helped their daughter grow a small equine business at their home, which she runs almost completely by herself now.   Jami also directs a very small, nonprofit, homeschool cooperative group, which focuses on building close relationships and critical thinking skills through offering parent-lead courses with common annual themes. When Jami is not traveling for baseball, assisting her daughter in her equine business, homeschooling, or running her cooperative group, she enjoys gardening, exercise, and tending to her chickens on their micro farm.     Thank you for listening to the A+ Parents podcast.
