The ‘Wheel Turning Sutra‘ – Dhammachakkapavatana Sutta’ – ‘The Setting in Motion of the Wheel of the Dhamma - Sutta’, is considered to be a record of the first sermon given by the Buddha at the legendary Deer Park at Sarnath, India. This legendary discourse, taught to the Buddha’s first five disciples, begins by rejecting the extremes of asceticism and indulgence and advocates the Buddha’s middle way path, while also sharing the Buddha’s teachings on The Four Noble Truths.

Venerable Tarpa is an American Buddhist monk ordained in the Tibetan Buddhist Tradition. Ven. Tarpa offers a modern and progressive presentation of the Buddha's teachings, favoring a more secular approach. Ven. Tharpa is well known for his pragmatic, no-nonsense views, his ability to clarify complex philosophical points for all audiences, and his familiarity with all traditions of Buddhist thought and non-Buddhist traditions as well.
