Morning Shot: Singaporean deaths could outnumber births by first half of 2030s. How might that affect the labour force and when you can retire?

By the first half of the 2030s, the number of citizen deaths in Singapore could exceed births if current trends continue.  In 2023, there were 24,726 citizen deaths, a 40 per cent jump from 17,691 deaths in 2014. In contrast, citizen births fell over the same time period, with 2023 seeing 28,877 such births, a 13 per cent fall from 33,193 in 2014.
