Matthew 15:21-28 Unmerited Favor for an Unclean Dog of a Woman

Release Date:

Matthew 15:21-28 is one of the most troubling narratives in the Gospels. In this text we see Jesus first ignore a woman who is following Him begging Him to to help her daughter who is cruelly demon-possessed. For awhile, Jesus ignores her. Then He tells her that He was not sent to help her people group. And then He flat out insults her. He even calls her a 'dog,' which was a racial slur that Jews used for Gentiles at that time. But then, after all that, Jesus commends her for her great faith and heals her daughter. Why the delay? What is Jesus doing here? Listen as Pastor Matt explains the beautiful theological significance of this confusing narrative.
