#13 - Johannes Brahms and the Art of Transcription

Release Date:

In this episode we talk about Transcriptions and how Johannes Brahms loved transcribing his orchestral scores for piano duet so that they could be played by only two players as opposed as by an (expensive) full orchestra. Today this process of transcribing has become obsolete thanks to the fact that music is consumed through recordings that are easy to share as well as virtual renditions of orchestral scores are possible to be created using notation software like Sibelius and Finale (as many others). Tune in for a great insight on the subject and to listen to Brahms' own transcription of his Piano Concerto N.1 in D-minor Op.15, performed in piano-4-hands format by pianists Lilya Zilberstein and Cord Garben. Don't miss it!
