MAILBAG: Do the Rays Need a Power Bat? ; Aaron Civale Has Been Traded | Locked On Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays are getting started on the Trade Deadline as they have dealt RHP Aaron Civale to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for INF Gregory Barrios who will report to Class A ball. The Rays have Shane Baz and Jeffrey Springs (later) coming back to the rotation so it’s not too much of a shock for Rays fans, who never really got to enjoy the best of Civale in his year with the Rays after acquiring him last year from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for 1B Kyle Manzardo. To answer one mailbag question:Rays only need to go 7-5 in next 12 to get to 49-47 which is where they were in 2018 and won 90.However this team needs to find a bat like they did in 2018 (Tommy Pham) to unlock.
